I completely loved True Detective. Just adored it. And I loved Nic Pizzolatto’s novel Galveston. Both are examples of highly original story-telling that are way above and beyond the usual expectations of their genres. I came across this article that poses some questions that are way too tough to ignore about the true origins of some of the most iconic dialogue and themes in the show, to the point that I am still making up my mind. But the evidence presented in the above link is pretty darn compelling. Take a look and make up your own minds. I’m trying not to let any of this detract from what a magnificent viewing experience True Detective was, but it certainly has my attention.
Did the writer of “True Detective” plagiarize Thomas Ligotti and others?
